Human Rights Watch investigates and reports on abuses happening in all corners of the world. They direct their advocacy towards governments, armed groups and businesses, pushing them to change or enforce their laws, policies and practices. They do not accept government funding to ensure their independence and carefully review all donations to ensure they are consistent with their policies, mission and values. They partner with organizations large and small across the globe to protect embattled activists and to help hold abusers to account and bring justice to victims.
ACTION AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
“The project is now a member-led global network of more than 40 chapters. Their members organize and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. Black Lives Matter is an ideological and political intervention in a world where Black lives are systematically and intentionally targeted for demise. It is an affirmation of Black folks’ humanity, our contributions to this society, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.” Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a decentralized political and social movement advocating for non-violent civil disobedience in protest against incidents of police brutality and all racially motivated violence against black people. The broader movement and its related organizations typically advocate against police violence towards black people as well as for various other policy changes considered to be related to black liberation.
